Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water. The Greek word "baptism" means to dip, or immerse. Because immersion is the only method of baptism displayed in the Bible, we believe immersion is the only way to practice baptism. This is a powerful picture of what has already occurred spiritually through salvation. That is, the death and burial of the old self and the resurrection of the new self from the dead. Based upon what we know from Scripture, baptism is an outward proclamation of faith, and it is preceded by confession of sin and repentance. Baptism itself is powerless to save. Only saving faith in Jesus Christ can redeem us from our sins. We submit to baptism to obey the command of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20) and to follow the example of Jesus (Matthew 3:13, 16-17). Baptism is something that should be celebrated with other believers, since the once being baptized is now identifying with the body of Christ.

If you would like to be baptized or have any further questions about baptism, please contact us at, call the church office to speak with a pastor, or come forward during the invitation time at the end of a worship service.
